The Program:

The Kusala Yoga 200 hour Teacher Training is a unique program which embodies the integration of Buddhist and yogic teachings. It will be led by highly trained teachers Melissa McKay, Melanie Chevarie, who share an equalled passion for asana practice and Buddhist meditation make a complimentary teaching team. We will offer training in ancient teachings that in a very real and practical way provide tools for cultivating peace and happiness.

Asana (posture) and Pranayama (breath and energy work) support the health strength and flexibility of the body. Vipassana meditation is a simple yet profound technique which cultivates one's ability to be in our lives fully in the present moment. Metta meditation is the cultivation of an unconditionally loving heart in the face of life's changing circumstances. When these techniques are earnestly applied, transformation is unavoidable.

The program is good for people who intend to teach as well as those who are seeking to deepen their personal practices. We welcome anyone interested to apply. Please contact the studio for a registration form.

The training will include:

  • Study of the Asanas including standing and seated poses, back and forward bends, inversions, twists and arm balances and how to assist and adjust in the poses
  • Buddhist philosophy, scripture and ethical training
  • Vipassana (mindfulness) and Metta meditation
  • Practice teaching
  • Pranyama
  • Sanskrit language immersion
  • Anatomy and physiology

The Setting:

Moulin de Chaves is a meditation center run by Martin and Gail Aylward. It's housed on what was formerly a Zen Monastery in the Dordogne region of southwest France. Le Moulin is set in exquisitely beautiful surroundings. Right on the banks of a wide river, there are bamboo groves and mature trees, the sounds of birdsong and flowing water, the beautiful Japanese style wooden meditation hall. This contact with beautiful, peaceful surroundings has a soothing and stilling effect on heart and mind, encouraging ease of being, and directing our attention inward. The work they do at Le Moulin is the perfect compliment to the training of the program.
